Yes, Brides Do Want to Keep Their Bouquet!

Celebrating 20 Years of Preserving Bouquets!

Yes, Brides Do Want to Keep Their Bouquet!

Why then is the bouquet preservation an afterthought?

"I would like some information on having my daughters bouquet turned into art on an oval frame. The wedding was two weeks ago and I have the bouquet. It is already turning, is it still...possible. This is the typical of the phone calls and emails I receive weekly and sadly it is often too late to preserve the bride’s flowers.
Deb’s Keepsake Flowers is celebrating 20 years of preserving bridal bouquets.   Regardless, bouquet preservation is still an afterthought and not considered part of the wedding plans.  The thought of preserving the bouquet usually occurs after the ceremony when the bride is getting ready to leave the on her honeymoon.   In a panic the bride gives the responsibility to her Mother whom has not a clue where or how to proceed preserving the bouquet.  Thankfully, the internet has made the process of finding a floral preservationist easier that is if the brides even know that the service exists.
I have tried many marketing venues to make bouquet preservation part of the mainstream of planning the wedding, but not even the wedding sites or wedding publications give an category or information about  bouquet preservation and the l service is lumped in with the florist making it difficult for brides to recognize the service of preserving the bouquet is available.
For years I have advised brides to make preserving their bouquets part of the wedding plans. And to budget for this! Often brides think that the preservation arrangements are to be made after the wedding day, and this may be acceptable if the wedding flowers are delivered in great condition. But if you don't plan ahead and secure a preservationist before your I Do's, your beautiful bouquet may be wilting, damaged or destroyed by the time it's in the hands of a professional. Here are the top 5 reasons to plan ahead to preserve your wedding flowers!1. Fresher the better! If you deliver your flowers to the preservationist while they're still fresh, you'll get the best results. Two weeks after the wedding is too late.2. Gain expert insight: The flower preservationist can help determine what types of blooms preserve best, assist with the keepsake selection and if needed, arrange for courier services. 3. Plan your keepsakes! The keepsake options are endless and if you set a plan prior to the wedding, additional items may be preserved. You can preserve only the bridal bouquet, just a few flowers with a photo or your wedding invitation, or get creative and include mementos such as your champagne toasting flutes, bridal veil, tiara, etc. You may want the flowers redesigned as a contemporary art piece, the choice is all yours. But you must plan ahead!4. A small price to pay... The cost of preserving your wedding flowers is a relatively small expense. Also, there are affordable keepsakes that make beautiful thank you gifts for the mothers, wedding party or special relatives.* Inside Tip! Do NOT freeze your bouquet! This mistake could destroy your treasured wedding flowers.5. Pro preservationists are hard to find! Contrary to belief, all wedding florists are not preservationists and there are very few floral preservationists throughout the country. Therefore it's important that you find a place to have your flowers preserved before the wedding day.
Just yesterday a sister of the bride delivered the bouquet to be preserved, the sister was just married three months prior to and so regretted  that she lost her flowers because she did not plan to preserve her bouquet.
Help me spread the word that brides can and should make bouquet preservation part of their wedding plans.  What a great gift to the bride from her bridesmaids or better yet a romantic heirloom gift from her groom!

A Keepsake Gift! A Token of Love!

The definition of the word “keepsake” is a gift that evokes memories of a person or event and a token of love, which is the reason why almost twenty years ago I decided the word “keepsake” was a natural fit for my new flower preservation business, and now for the e-commerce store Deb’s Keepsake Wedding & Gift Store.

As I reflect on the events of my life it is truly the “keepsakes” from family and friends that endure and have the most meaning. I suggest you take a moment and reflect on the special keepsake gifts you have been given from a beloved person that reminds you of joyful heartfelt times of your life.

My first keepsake is a Bible my parents presented to me at age five and over the years it has been gifts from family and friends of jewelry, music boxes, art pieces and mementos from special places and events and the flowers given to me that have been preserved and encased in beautiful frames or glass cases.
It is the keepsake gifts that endure in our hearts and become beautiful heirlooms

Deb's Blog On OneWed Savvy Scoop

Deb's Keepsake Flowers Blog " Five Top Reasons to Plan Ahead to Preserve Your Flowers" was published on OneWed Savvy Scoop.

Recently I received an order from a very thoughtful husband to recreate his wife’s bridal bouquet to be preserved for their first wedding anniversary. The Maid of Honor had tried to preserve the bride's bouquet, but sadly... it was destroyed. While the husband's beautiful gift will most certainly be treasured, a recreated bouquet doesn't have the same sentiment, feelings, or memories as the bouquet that was carried down the aisle.

A Drawer Full of Memories

A drawer full of memories, you know the one that has all the cards, photos and memorabilia from family and friends. I bet most of you will find at least one flower pressed in between pages of a photo album or favorite book. That one pressed flower, marked the day of a momentous occasion in a loved one’s life that has been passed down through generations within the family. Call it old fashioned, call it too sentimental, but in the scheme of our hectic lives it is the shared memories that remain a part of us.

With today’s knowledge and technology you do not need to find that one brown flower pressed between the pages or hang the bridal bouquet upside down in hopes that the inevitable deterioration of your flowers does not happen. Most wedding flowers can be preserved with only slight changes to the color and shape and designed in a frame or encasement will last many years in a normal household environment.

The key is to arrange for the flower preservationist to receive your bouquet as fresh as possible; therefore, it is recommended that you make preserving your bouquet part of the wedding plans and budget. The flower preservationist can assist you in determining what flowers preserve the best, assist with the keepsake selection and if needed arrange for courier services. The keepsake options vary and are endless. You may preserve only the bouquet, just a few flowers with a photo or invitation or include wedding items such as the champagne flutes, tiara etc. You may want the flowers redesigned as a contemporary art piece, the choice is all yours.

The cost of preserving your flowers is typically a very small percentage of the total cost of the wedding and wedding flowers. Also, there are smaller keepsakes that make beautiful gifts for the mothers and the wedding party. One special note, please do not freeze your bouquet; this is a mistake that destroys the flowers.

One of my most treasured keepsake pieces is a keepsake box with preserved anniversary flowers and cards my husband gave me throughout the years, too bad I don’t have my wedding flowers. The quote on the anniversary card “Memories bring back the beauty of wonderful moments shared.” This beautiful keepsake will always decorate my home and my heart.

The variety, colors and fragrances of flowers create an unforgettable essence of your wedding day. How sad that flowers from such an important day is lost unnecessarily.
